The definitive raise of excise tax on diesel will be equal or less than 4 eurocents to cut the budgetary deficit.
Due to the financial crisis the government is obliged to save € 3.3m euro over the next 2 years. The consensus of an increase of up to 4 cents came after a proposal was rejected by Touring according to which the diesel price would gain 20 cents. The agreement offers the government an expected increase in tax revenues of € 400m euro.
