Due to the economic crisis, which started in 2008, unemployment in Flanders has risen a lot in comparison to last year.
Many researches showed that especially men are hit by this unemployment because the majority of them are employed in sectors which are sensitive to the conjuncture.
Men prefer working in the construction-, transport- or industry sector rather than in the service sector which is prefered by women.
The number of unemployed men has risen by more than 30%, which is three times higher than the rate of unemployed women.
